Sketch Challenge # 181

Good Morning, so glad you joined us today for this weeks Sketch Challenge!

We supply the layout you supply the imagination! Take a look at what our design team has come up with to meet this challenge!

Anitra had lots of fun with this week's sketch.  Using some Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock as her base she matted some Vintage Sheet Music that she had distressed with some frayed burlap ink.  To bring out the music notes in the sheet, she matted the distressed music sheet with some Blackboard Stock Paper.  Then using pieces from the Ephemera Pack Thrift Shop Anitra added elements to fit the sketch.  This ephemera pack comes loaded with great pieces!  Next she added a flower from her stash and added a banner which she stamped her sentiment.  To finish her card Anitra added a small bow made from one of her favorite embellishments Hand Stained Bias Tap in Rose Beige.  For more information on her project please visit her blog Stamping While They Sleep.
Kristi took creative license with the sketch this week and used it less like a blueprint and more like a jumping off point for her card. All of the elements are there, just rearranged a bit! She started with a Light Brown Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock base. She layered her card with cream and gold polka dot patterned paper,a darker floral patterned paper, then finally used some metallic gold scalloped trim along the front. She then wrapped the card with some Rose Beige Seam Binding, tying it into a bow on the left of the card front. She then attached another bow made from Aqua Mist Seam Binding. She embellished the bow with a chipboard button threaded with some Natural Hemp Cord. Kristi then added a chipboard sentiment to the right of the bow to finish the card. For this week's "Sketch Challenge", Karen wanted to keep it very simple.  She chose to create a sweet card based on this week's lovely sketch by starting with a Small Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card as her base.  To that, she cut the shapes of the sketch with pieces of Lunch Bag Kraft Coverweight Card Stock, and also layered each sketch shape with a piece of either Vintage Dictionary Pages or the sweet Vintage Sheet Music.  This gave a very subtle and monochromatic feel to the card while keeping it simple.  Karen also added a length of Ruler Twill Ribbon, and she added an extra embellishment to the bottom left by attaching a silhouette flair from the adorable Jenni Bowlin Icon Flatbacks.  The final touch was the sentiment, and she made that by taking another little scrap of the Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock, and layered that with a small scrap piece of the Buff Ivory Cover Weight Card Stock.  She stamped her sentiment on that using a little "Praying For You" stamp.  The Kraft Outlet truly makes card-making SO fun and easy.  You'll find everything you need to create a lovely new card to share in this week's "Sketch Challenge", and we look forward to having you all play along with us and seeing what you create.  To see more photos and read more about this project, or just to stop by and say hello, you're warmly invited to visit Karen's blog, My Cup Runneth Over.

  1. There is an art to card making and you ladies have perfected it!

The kraft paper paired with the dictionary pages and music sheets are my personal favorite, but they are all stunning!

In the digital world of today, those cards are going to make some people very happy!
